Klobuchar Receives Award from National Narcotic Officers' Associations' Coalition

February 2, 2010

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday at the National Narcotic Officers’ Associations’ Coalition (NNOAC) Annual Conference, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar received the Outstanding Member of the Senate Award for 2009.   The NNOAC selects one member of the Senate and one member of the House of Representatives to receive the award each year.

"It is a great honor to receive this award,” said Klobuchar.  “Narcotics officers are on the front lines in our states and cities – they work hard every single day to ensure that our communities are safe and our kids are drug-free.  I look forward to continuing my partnership with this important organization.”

“Senator Klobuchar has been an excellent member to work with,”inue to work together to help protect America’s communities and children.” said Ronald Brooks, President of NNOAC and Director of the Northern California High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Regional Intelligence Center. “As a former prosecutor, she understands the critical issues NNOAC members confront every day, and her commitment to NNOAC has been invaluable.  I know we’ll continue to work together to help protect America’s communities and children.”

The NNOAC was formed in 1994 and continues to serve as the only advocate for America’s narcotic officers on national issues.  The NNOAC represents forty-four State Narcotic Officers’ Associations, the RISS (Regional Information Sharing System) Directors Association, National HIDTA (High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area) Directors Association and several other related organizations, with a combined membership of more than 65,000 law enforcement officers.

Senator Klobuchar is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and was Hennepin County’s chief prosecutor for eight years before her election to the U.S. Senate.
