WASHINGTON -- Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., traveled to Vietnam on Monday with Arizona Sen. John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential candidate and a former POW, who is leading a congressional delegation to discuss economic and security issues.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., also made the trip, which will include stops in China and Japan.

The delegation was scheduled to tour the "Hanoi Hilton" -- the prison where McCain, then a Navy pilot, was held captive for six years during the Vietnam War. They were also expected to visit the lake where McCain's plane was shot down in 1967.

After the stop in Vietnam, the group will meet with Chinese leaders to discuss economic and security issues as well as visit Peking University, where Klobuchar will meet with Minnesota students from the University of Minnesota.

Klobuchar, who chairs the Competitiveness, Innovation and Export Promotion Subcommittee on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, said she will meet with Asian leaders about opening new markets for Minnesota products, specifically agriculture products.

The delegation will finish its trip in Japan, where it will meet with Japanese government officials.
