Klobuchar, Coleman seek convention money (Star Tribune)

Minnesota Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Norm Coleman joined the senators from Colorado on Tuesday in asking a Senate appropriations subcommittee to allocate $50 million each to St. Paul and Denver for security costs for the Republican and Democratic Party national conventions in 2008.
Semonti Mustaphi, a spokeswoman for Klobuchar, said the senators are asking that the funding be included in a federal commerce, justice and science bill. A total of $50 million each was appropriated for security for the 2004 major party conventions in New York and Boston.
