Klobuchar Visits Iraq For 'Surge In Diplomacy' (AP) Minneapolis Sen. Amy Klobuchar made a surprise visit to Iraq on Saturday to meet with troops and gather information about the conflict that is nearly into its fifth year.
She discussed a range of issues -- including the transfer of authority to Iraqis and the diplomatic involvement of neighboring nations -- with Gen. David Petraeus, the top military commander in Iraq, along with other U.S. generals and Iraqi officials.
She emphasized the "need to have a surge in diplomacy and a surge in the economic situation here and a surge in the political situation here" during a telephone news conference from Baghdad.
