Last year President Barack Obama signed into law H.R. 1, a bill totaling $787 billion designed to improve the economy.
I disagree with the bill’s approach to stimulating the economy through such a massive amount of spending – which amounts to the annual discretionary budget for the entire federal government – but the following information will help constituents in Michigan’s Second Congressional District access the available resources it contains.
Moving forward, the federal government can help the American economy to rebound by reducing the tax burden on small businesses and working families, as well as providing states with flexibility in how they allocate federal resources. Allowing states and individuals to determine how they allocate their scarce resources is critical to generating any economic growth.
