AMENDMENT PROCESS FOR H.R. 1542, INTERNET FREEDOM AND BROADBAND DEVELOPMENT ACT

Today the Rules Committee notified Members of an amendment filing deadline for H.R. 1542, the Internet Freedom and Broadband Development Act.

Any Member wishing to offer an amendment should submit 55 copies of the amendment and one copy of a very brief explanation of the amendment to the Rules Committee in room H-312 of the Capitol no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 25th. A copy of the form used to submit amendments to the Rules Committee is on the back of this letter and is also available on the Rules Committee web site. Amendments should be drafted to the text of the bill as reported by the Committee on Energy and Commerce, which will be available on the web sites of both the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Rules Committee.

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are properly drafted, and should check with the Office of the Parliamentarian to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House.
