AMENDMENT PROCESS FOR H.R. 2432 - Paperwork and Regulatory Improvements Act OF 2003; H.R. 2728 - Occupational Safety and Health Small Business Day in Court Act of 2004; H.R. 2729 - Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission Efficiency Act of 2004; H.R. 2730 - Occupational Safety and Health Independent Review of OSHA Citations Act of 2004; anD H.R. 2731 - OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH SMALL EMPLOYER ACCESS TO JUSTICE ACT OF 2004

The Rules Committee has announced that it may meet the week of May 17th to grant a rule which could limit the amendment process for floor consideration of H.R. 2432, the Paperwork and Regulatory Improvements Act of 2003; H.R. 2728, the Occupational Safety and Health Small Business Day in Court Act of 2004; H.R. 2729, the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission Efficiency Act of 2004; H.R. 2730, the Occupational Safety and Health Independent Review of OSHA Citations Act of 2004; and H.R. 2731, the Occupational Safety and Health Small Employer Access to Justice Act of 2004.

Any Member who wishes to offer an amendment should submit 55 copies of the amendment and one copy of a brief explanation of the amendment to the Rules Committee in room H-312 of the Capitol by 11 a.m. on Monday, May 17, 2004. A link to the form used to submit amendments to the Rules Committee is located at the top of this page.

Members should draft their amendments to the text of H.R. 2432 as reported by the Government Reform Committee on May 12, 2004, which is expected to be filed on Friday, May 14, 2004.

Members should draft their amendments to the texts of H.R. 2728, H.R. 2729, H.R. 2730 and H.R. 2731 as reported by the Education and the Workforce Committee on May 5, 2004, which are expected to be filed today and will be made available tomorrow on this web page.

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format and should check with the Office of the Parliamentarian to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House.
