AMENDMENT PROCESS FOR H.R. 339 - PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY IN FOOD CONSUMPTION ACT

The Committee on Rules has announced that it may meet the week of March 8th to grant a rule for the consideration of H.R. 339, the Personal Responsibility in Food Consumption Act, which may require that amendments be printed in the Congressional Record prior to their consideration on the Floor.

The Committee the Judiciary ordered the bill reported on January 28th, 2004 and is expected to file its report with the House by Friday, March 5th, 2004. Members should draft their amendments to the bill as reported by the Committee on the Judiciary, which will be available for their review tomorrow on the websites of both the Judiciary Committee and the Rules Committee.

Members should use the Office of Legislative Counsel to ensure that their amendments are drafted in the most appropriate format. Members should also check with the Office of the Parliamentarian to be certain their amendments comply with the rules of the House. If you have any questions, please contact myself or George Rogers at x5-9191.
