Coordinated Response Leads to Times Square Arrest

May 4, 2010 (WASHINGTON) – Today, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson (D-MS), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security, released the following statement following the arrest of Faisal Shahzad:
"I commend the coordinated response to this incident – from the vigilant citizens on the street who reported suspicious activity to local and Federal authorities who worked swiftly to evacuate the scene, preserve evidence, run down leads, and make the arrest. I am heartened by the level of coordination and believe it is a result, in part, of years of investment in programs to foster preparedness and information sharing among local and Federal authorities."
