Amendment Process Announcement for H.R. 2537 - Beach Protection Act of 2007

April 4, 2008

Amendments must be preprinted in the Congressional Record

Dear Colleague:

The Committee on Rules is expected to meet the week of April 7, 2008, to report a rule for floor consideration of H.R. 2537, the Beach Protection Act of 2007.  It is anticipated that the rule will require that amendments be preprinted in the Congressional Record.

Members who wish to offer an amendment must submit their amendments for preprinting in the Congressional Record by the close of business Wednesday, April 9, 2008, to ensure that their amendments are printed prior to consideration of the bill on the House Floor.  At the top of the amendment write “Submitted for printing under clause 8 of Rule XVIII” and include the Member’s signature and the bill number.  The amendment should then be taken to the desk on the House Floor.  Amendments should be drafted to the bill as reported by the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.  The bill is available on the Rules Committee website (www.rules.house.gov).

Amendments should be drafted by Legislative Counsel and also should be reviewed by the Office of the Parliamentarian to be sure that the amendments comply with the rules of the House.

If you have any questions, please contact Tony Abate at extension 5-9091.

            Sincerely,
