Washington, D.C.—Iowa Congressman Steve King today announced a House-Senate agreement on an historic plan to provide concurrent receipt for more disabled veterans than have ever been covered by law. “We owe an incredible amount to our soldiers, past and present,” said King. “I am proud to have been a key player in bringing this legislation to a vote. Soon, veterans will finally receive the compensation they have been due for years.” Currently, disabled veterans’ retirement benefits are offset by the amount of disability coverage that they are eligible for. The Republican plan seeks to rectify that situation and provide full concurrent receipt benefits for the most severely disabled veterans. "Steve King has been instrumental in communicating the needs of Iowa veterans and in advocating for a viable solution to the concurrent receipt issue,” said House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.-7). The Republican plan provides the following: Blue Ribbon Commission
Purple Heart
Combat-Related Special Compensation
National Guard and Reservists
Remaining Military Retirees
