When the government is spending your money, I believe it should be fiscally disciplined and held accountable. The only way to reduce our national debt is to force the federal government to live within its means. If families must live within their budgets, then the federal government should too. That’s why I support measures to hold down spending in Congress and demand some common-sense changes to the budget process.
As a former small business owner for over 28 years, I tend to think about budgets in terms of debits and receipts. I know we have to get spending under control and balance the federal budget. There is nothing courageous or commendable about voting for deficits. True courage is exhibited by taking a tough stand and choosing to cut spending. When it comes to federal programs, it is not how much money is spent but also what we spend the money on that counts. I support a budget that sets the course by not bankrupting our children and grandchildren. America cannot afford to pay for a bloated federal government that spends more and more taxpayer money each year.
