2009 SAFETEA-LU Reauthorization Requests
Arlington - Acquisition of 16 Winter Street Lot in the Town of Arlington for $720,000: Town will acquire house and lot, remove house and build surface parking. This lot is near the Arlington business district and bus and T lines.

Arlington - Massachusetts Avenue, Schouler Court to Lowell Street in the Town of Arlington for $1,161,500: Project will mill, repave, and install new sidewalks, curbing and handicapped accessible crosswalk ramps.  Two traffic lights will also be modernized, at Schouler Court, and at Brattle Street. Mass Ave from Schouler Ct. to Lowell Street (4500 linear feet).

Framingham - Construction of a Wireless Mesh Network Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) in the Town of Framingham for $7,200,000: Project will develop wireless broadband mesh network that will provide broadband connectivity to all Public Safety & Public Service agencies within the Town of Framingham.

Framingham - Traffic & Related Improvements in Downtown Framingham to Promote Transit Oriented Development (TOD) in the Town of Framingham for $7,500,000: Town will realign & signalize 2 intersections where heavy traffic is stopped for rail traffic about 62 times daily. Project will upgrade the underground infrastructure, creating new open space, repaved sidewalks, and accessible curbs.

Framingham - Grade Separation & Economic Development Project for Downtown Framingham in the Town of Framingham for $8,000,000: Town will separate local destination traffic from regional pass-through traffic.

Framingham - Reconstruction of Franklin Street Corridor connecting Downtown Commuter Station & Route 9 via Main Street in the Town of Framingham for $5,500,000: Project builds on work already underway to increase north-south access routes in Town of Framingham and to improve pedestrian vehicular safety via road re-alignments, additional signalization, signage, lighting, sidewalks and pedestrian crosswalks.

Lexington - Waltham Street, Hayden Ave & Spring Street Corridor Transportation Improvements in the Town of Lexington for $600,000: Project will improve three intersections to reduce congestion.

Medford - Medford Square Congestion Mitigation & Safety Improvement Project in the City of Medford for $3,650,000: Project will reduce congestion, improve access and will install state of the art traffic signals at 6 intersections.

Natick - Pleasant Street Bridge Rehabilitation in the Town of Natick for $1,500,000: Project will repair and alter the existing historic stone arch bridge over the Charles River at Pleasant Street.

Revere - Wonderland Station Intermodal & Transit Oriented Development Improvements in the City of Revere for $10,000,000: Project implements essential intermodal transit improvements at Wonderland MBTA Blue line station.

Winchester - Winchester Center & Wedgemore Commuter Rail Station Rehabilitation in the Town of Winchester for $2,800,000: Project will rehabilitate rail station after 60 years of winter weather, including repairs to the roof and lighting.

Winthrop - Winthrop Harbor Walk in the Town of Winthrop for $1,500,000: Project involves constructing a harbor center at the town pier with a safe scenic walkway to connect harbor operations/water transportation facility at the public landing with Lewis Lake and the parkland next to it.

Woburn - Reconstruction of Montvale Avenue in the City of Woburn for $3,400,000: Town will reconstruct Montvale Avenue between I-93 Interchange and Central Street. Project includes roadway reconstruction and rehabilitation, minor street widening, sidewalk reconstruction & upgrades to the traffic signal control system.

Woburn - New Boston Street Bridge in the City of Woburn for $5,200,000: Project will re-establish a grade separated link between New Boston Street in Woburn and its continuation as Woburn/Andover Street in Wilmington.  The bridge will span approximately 120 feet with approximately 700  feet of approach work on each side.

Woburn - Woburn Bike Loop in the City of Woburn for $1,610,000: Town will construct a Bikeway / Greenway along the Woburn Loop, an abandoned railroad right-of-way which runs from Woburn Square to the Winchester Town Limit Line. The Woburn Loop Bikeway/Greenway will eventually connect with the proposed Tri-Community Bikeway/Greenway.

Woburn - I-93/I-95 Interchange Transportation Improvements District in the State of Massachusetts for $12,000,000: Project is an integrated package of improvements for highway, transit, and transportation demand management (TDM). Plans include an additional lane, new ramps, reconfigured ramps, noise barriers, increased area shuttle bus & commuter rail service, a pedestrian bridge, and more signage.

Framingham / Worcester - Commuter Rail to N. Station in the State of Massachusetts for $124,800,000: Project will restore Pan Am Railway's Worcester Main Line.
