Norton to Take to the Floor on D.C. Voting Rights

By Jennifer Bendery
Roll Call
March 12, 2009

Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.) will take to the floor Thursday afternoon to drum up support for the D.C. voting rights legislation, which remains in limbo as Republicans push to add language that would loosen the District's gun laws.

Holmes will team with members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus around 4 p.m. to give special order speeches in favor of passing the bill.

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), a CPC member, will anchor the hourlong series of talks.

A Norton aide said she didn't know which CPC members will be on hand to give speeches.
