STEARNS TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING HALL OF FAME
CEREMONY BEING HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 30TH AT 7:00 PM

Washington, Nov 29 -

Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-Sixth), a graduate of George Washington University in Washington, D.C., will be inducted into the George Washington University Engineering Hall of Fame.  Stearns earned a degree in electrical engineering while attending the university on a U.S. Air Force ROTC scholarship.  He went on to serve four years in the Air Force where he was assigned to a highly classified program during the Vietnam War working on satellite reconnaissance.

On leaving the Air Force, Stearns worked in the private sector before starting his successful business as the owner of a chain of motels and restaurants in north central Florida.  Due to his business background and strong record of community service, Stearns was urged to run for Congress.  Stearns is now the Republican leader of the House Communications, Technology and the Internet Subcommittee and is under consideration to chair the House Energy & Commerce Committee in the new Congress.

The George Washington University Engineering Hall of Fame honors distinguished alumni and staff of the School of Engineering and Applied Science who have contributed to engineering, technology, management or public service in a significant way.
