The 2010 Census: It’s Safe and Easy

This year marks the start of the 2010 Census.  By now you should have received the short, ten question form from the United States Census Bureau. This once-in-a-decade push to count all Americans is vital for our local economy.  Each year, more than $400 billion is distributed across America to build new roads, medical clinics, schools, and senior centers.  The federal Government uses census information to determine funding levels for these critical projects and for determining how many seats Michigan will have in Congress.  By submitting your census form, you are increasing the chances that our community will be accurately represented and that it receives the funds it deserves.

The 2010 Census asks ten short questions about your home and how many people live there.  After answering these simple questions, all you have to do is mail the form back in the prepaid envelope.  If you do not return the form, a census taker will come to your home and personally ask you these questions.  Please take the time to speak to these individuals because the information is critical for our community.  If you have not received the questionnaire, or if yours has been lost or damaged, please call the Census toll-free hotline at 1-866-872-6868.
