Africa Policy
Mr. Conyers and the Congressional Black Caucus have been stalwart in their efforts to keep the issue of Africa on the forefront of the US' agenda. Mr. Conyers worked extensively with Ethiopia and Eritrea to resolve their two year long war and is currently working to foster better exchanges between the US and Africa regarding trade, especially agriculture. It is Mr. Conyers' hope that to link American Black farmers with African farmers in a trade partnership.
Additionally, Mr. Conyers has co-sponsored legislation to increased funding to Africa via the Marshall Plan Aids Trust Fund which provides funding to address the Aids pandemic, in particular, sub-Sahara Africa.
