Academy Nominations

GENERAL INFORMATION

Before an individual can receive an offer of appointment to a service academy, he or she must obtain a nomination from an authorized source. As a U. S. Representative, Congressman Hinojosa is able to submit nominations on behalf of prospective students from his district. A student can also apply for nominations through U. S. Senators and the Vice President.

If a parent is presently on active duty and has served in the military for at least eight years or is retired, a student may apply for a presidential nomination through the military. Children of deceased or disabled veterans or children of Medal of Honor winners may apply for a nomination directly from the service academies.

Students may apply to more than one academy. Each academy's website provides additional information and explains how to request a pre-candidate questionnaire, the first step in the admissions process.
