Larson Statement On Re-Election As Democratic Caucus Chairman

Washington, DC – Congressman John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement after being elected by his colleagues to serve a second term as Chairman of the Democratic Caucus for the 112th Congress.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank my colleagues for their support and trust in me to serve as their Caucus Chair for a second term. Today, we begin a new chapter for this Democratic Caucus, this Congress and this country.

“The American people have spoken – they are looking for their representatives in Washington to do better.  Despite all we accomplished in the last Congress, America is still hurting and the American people expect more from us.  The middle class in this country has been struggling for too long.  They’ve lost faith in the American Dream.  They’ve seen their wages stagnate, their jobs lost, while their cost of living is going up.

“This leadership team is renewing our commitment to stand up for average Americans.  The Caucus is united in our goals to get the economy moving – America’s factories humming and Americans seeing the rewards of a hard days’ work again.  We will not stand by and let special interests retake Washington.  We will not roll back the reforms we enacted to make this country a fairer, better place for the American people.

“I look forward to serving my Caucus and my constituents over the next two years and making real progress for the American people.”
