SKED

The Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corporation is a 23-year-old nonprofit economic development organization formed by Congressman Hal Rogers in 1986 to serve 42 counties in Southeast Kentucky. SKED works directly with individual companies and local economic development organizations. SKED is a one-stop resource for:
        • Site selection assistance
        • Incentive and business tax information
        • Key contacts in business and local government
        • Demographic, wage and economic data
        • Navigation through local government requirements
        • Access to workforce training and recruitment resources
        • Direct loans to qualifying businesses through its lending programs
The U.S. Small Business Administration has designated SKED as a certified SBA 504 Lender, serving the entire Commonwealth. As an SBA Certified Development Company, SKED can package long-term, fixed-rate financing for major fixed assets, such as land and buildings for manufacturing projects up to $10 million. This program allows SKED to greatly expand its traditional economic development financing efforts beyond manufacturing firms to include hotels, restaurants, tourism-related activities, retail, healthcare and other business activities.
