Service Academy Nominations

There are four service academies to which a Congressman may make nominations - the U.S. Naval Academy; U.S. Military Academy; U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.  Please use the links above to receive your packet of information regarding admission requirements.

US Coast Guard Appointments to the United States Coast Guard are rendered solely on the basis of a nation-wide competition with no congressional nomination required. For more information about the Coast Guard please visit the link below or contact the U.S. Coast Guard, Director of Admissions

Effective immediately, candidates for the USMA Class of 2012 (i.e. entering USMA in 2008 and later) are required to submit a writing score with their SAT and/or ACT exam. The SAT requires the writing exam as part of the test itself. However, the writing portion on the ACT is currently optional. If you register for the ACT, you must select the “ACT Plus Writing” exam. If you have already registered for an upcoming ACT and did not select the “ACT Plus Writing” exam, you should immediately contact ACT (319-337-1270) to add the writing portion. IMPORTANT:   The original application is required, as well as six photo copies.  If you apply to more than one academy, six additional copies per academy are required.  For example:  John wants to apply to both the Naval Academy and the Air Force Academy.  John will prepare one original application and then make 12 photo copies.  Please do not put your application in a presentation folder.  Simply staple each copy in the upper left corner.

You will be contacted with the time, date, and location of your interview in late October or early November.   Interviews are usually scheduled in mid-November.

If you currently attending a military prep school and are unable to be present for your interview in Indianapolis, please complete and send your application and call Elizabeth Tapia at 317.848.0201 to schedule a phone interview.
