The National Taxpayers Union praised a recent vote by Sen. Begich against a tax increase on American energy producers and consumers. The group says Alaska and the Nation were saved from a painful blow to the economy.

Begich Tells Obama: Don’t Forget Alaska Oil & Gas
As Congress discusses a national energy policy, it is vital Alaska’s priorities be a centerpiece of the discussion. Sen. Begich sent a letter to the President telling him any comprehensive energy plan must address Alaska’s unique needs including revenue sharing, adaptation funds, responsible development of domestic oil and gas, and a natural gas pipeline.

Simplify the Tax Code
Understanding the IRS and the tax code can be overly complicated and frustrating for Alaskans, Sen. Begich has cosponsored the first major bipartisan effort to reform the tax code since 1986. The bill would help create jobs, reduce tax burdens on families and cut down on the nightmare of paperwork.
