SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA– Today, Rep. Lois Capps announced that KCBX, San Luis Obispo County’s public radio station, has been awarded a nearly $60,000 grant from the Corporation of Public Broadcasting.
The grant will help to increase the station's digital signal within its current analog coverage area. KCBX will use the funding to purchase and install new equipment that will increase the digital power level by at least four times its current power level.
“I am so pleased that KCBX has been awarded this funding by the Corporation of Public Broadcasting. Public radio provides such a critical service to our local communities, and this investment will allow our great station to better serve its listeners,” said Capps.
“We are delighted that the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has granted public radio KCBX’s application to upgrade our digital broadcast capability. This grant plus other locally raised funds will improve our HD signal to the San Luis Obispo area and provide an improved signal and new HD service to northern San Luis Obispo County and southern Monterey County,” said Frank Lanzone, President and General Manager of KCBX.
