So you may better understand the duties and responsibilities of interns, the internship program is outlined below. Thank you for your interest.
Goals of the Tenth Congressional District’s Intern program:
To provide each intern with a substantive work experience
To educate each intern on how a congressional office operates, exposing him or her to all facets of the office;
To have each intern leave with increased skills and a portfolio of work.
Responsibilities of Washington and District Office Interns:
Interns will become proficient in the general procedures for operating a Congressional office. As opportunities become available, interns will be provided practical, hands-on assignments to reinforce the many educational experiences afforded. Interns will be supervised by a designated individual.
Interns must also keep current on district, national and international news. Interns should read national Washington newspapers and local Cleveland newspapers daily.
Interns must also have a working knowledge of government, particularly the legislative process and Ohio government. The House of Representatives’ Home Page and Congressional Quarterly are good sources of information. Also, government texts provide a good base of knowledge as well.
