| New Medicare Administrator Should Testify Before Congress (July 2010) |

| Yesterday, I joined with other Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee in formally requesting a hearing with the new Medicare administrator, Dr. Donald Berwick. Last week, President Obama appointed Dr. Berwick to the Medicare position while Congress was out of session, bypassing the normal Senate confirmation process. Dr. Berwick has made a number of past statements supporting socialized medicine and government rationing of health care. Given the widespread concerns that the recently passed health care law will lead to rationing, I believe it’s imperative for Congress and the American people to have the opportunity to hear Dr. Berwick’s views firsthand. |
