Critical Forest Management Dollars Put Towards DC Parks (September 2009) PDF Print

As this year’s fire season continues to ravage the State of California, I wanted to share this recent article in The Washington Times where I stated my strong opposition to an extreme abuse of federal taxpayer dollars. The United States Department of Agriculture has demonstrated its misguided priorities with its recent announcement that $2.7 million in stimulus funding designated for wildland fire management would be awarded to two entities in Washington DC for parks and recreation activities. Funding parks in Washington DC with money specifically intended to mitigate the threat of catastrophic wildfire is yet another example of misguided and wasteful spending with borrowed tax dollars.
