Border Fence Should Be Completed Without Further Delay (March 2009) PDF Print
Knowing of your interest in immigration issues, I wanted to inform you that I recently joined several other House members in urging President Obama to expeditiously complete construction of the border fence along the U.S.-Mexico border, as required by law.  This action is especially necessary in light of the substantial and growing level of border violence, much of it related to drug cartels, that has occurred over the past year and continues today.  While more than 600 miles of the congressionally-mandated fence have already been completed, I believe the President's Administration should move very quickly to complete the remaining 70 miles of fencing to help shut down key areas that are susceptible to significant cross-border traffic.  Completing this security infrastructure is critical to preventing illegal immigration, combating Mexican drug cartels, and protecting our homeland.
