Self-employed Tax Relief (Nov. 2007) PDF Print

Knowing of your interest in health care and tax issues, I thought you might like to know about legislation I recently introduced that would provide important health coverage tax relief to self-employed taxpayers.  This bipartisan bill, H.R. 3660, seeks to eliminate the current inequity in our tax code under which our smallest businesses - ones that typically employ one to ten workers - are hit with an additional 15.3% payroll-like tax on amounts paid for health care.  No other type of business in the U.S. faces this kind of taxation.

I encourage you to look at the section of my website dedicated to this issue. I look forward to updating it frequently with news and recent action on this issue.  In addition, here are some comments I made when Rep. Ron Kind of Wisconsin and I introduced the bill.
