8/24/10 Herger Holds America Speaking Out Event with Simpson University Students PDF Print

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Wally Herger (R-CA) hosted an America Speaking Out event at Simpson University with students returning for the new school year. Herger met with the students for more than an hour, discussing what is happening in Washington and how they could affect change in our government. The America Speaking Out program is designed to input the voice of the American public into a new governing agenda.

“I was impressed and encouraged by the interest and involvement of the students at Simpson. They understand that the mistakes being made in Washington today – out-of-control spending, a government takeover of health care, and looming tax hikes – will impact their future. They will be the ones stuck with the bill that the Obama Administration is running up. Many of their concerns echoed what I have heard across the North State, including concerns about unemployment and skyrocketing spending. However, what I was struck by most was their demand for accountability from Washington. As young men and women working to prepare for their futures, they are frustrated by the lack of responsibility in Washington. These young people are doing things the right way and it’s high time that Washington hold up its end of the bargain and ensure that we leave them a better and brighter future.”
