The Capitol of The United States

The nation’s capital city offers visitors a wealth of historical and cultural attractions for the whole family. Below are information and links to a number of the most popular attractions in the District of Columbia, as well as information about the city’s subway system.

Please feel free to stop by Roy’s office in room 2229 of the Rayburn House Office Building (at the corner of Independence Avenue and South Capitol Street, SE) to say hello and pick up House and Senate gallery passes.

U.S. CAPITOL BUILDING

The Capitol is open to the public for guided tours only. Tours are conducted from 8:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Monday through Saturday (the Capitol is not open for tours on Sundays). The Capitol is open on all federal holidays except Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Visitors must obtain free tickets for tours from Roy's office or the Capitol Visitor Center located on the east front of the Capitol.  To book a tour in advance, click here.

The Congressional Special Services Office provides information about tours for the disabled by telephone at 202-224-4048 (voice) or 202-224-4049 (TDD).

WHITE HOUSE

If you are interested in visiting the White House when you come to Washington, DC, please contact the Springfield office at 417-889-1800 or email the office at blunt@mail.house.gov. You are encouraged to contact the office AT LEAST four to six months in advance to request tours, as they fill up very quickly. The office must request tours from the White House in groups of at least 10 people. If your group has less than 10, we will do our best to combine your group with other constituents that are visiting at the same time.
