Rolling Thunder Ride for Freedom
Posted by Randy | May 28, 2010
I’m excited to share with you that I will be riding at the head of the Rolling Thunder demonstration this Memorial Day weekend. On Sunday, I will join with Rolling Thunder Founder/Executive Director Sgt. Artie Muller and other Rolling Thunder VIPs in the annual ride to remember our nation’s Prisoners of War (POW) and those Missing in Action (MIA).  At the end of the ride, I will deliver remarks at the Reflecting Pool Program with thousands of our nation's veterans gathered together.

Anyone familiar with Rolling Thunder knows just how honored and humbled I am to ride alongside hundreds of thousands of fellow bikers to raise awareness of our men and women who served their country and never came home.

Rolling Thunder began in 1987 when four Vietnam veterans found each other standing by the reflecting pool near the Vietnam War Memorial.  Led by Ray Manzo, Corporal USMC, the four veterans organized 2,500 fellow bikers to ride through the streets of Washington to petition the government to look for the hundreds of soldiers left behind and forgotten at the conclusion of the Vietnam War.  Just eight years later, half a million bikers descended upon the nation’s Capitol to send a message on Memorial Day Weekend: Never Forget the 88,000 Americans left behind.

I have not forgotten and I know that you have not either.  Together, let us continue to work to raise awareness of American POW/MIA and pray that one day, these brave men and women might return home.  And so, I will proudly ride with Rolling Thunder in Washington in solidarity with the silent memory of those who never made it home.  We will never forget them.

If you and your family will be in Washington, DC for Memorial Day weekend, I invite you to come out to watch the Demonstration. A map of the route is available here.

Rode into Washington with "Run For The Wall". I have been rode out to meet them since 2002. On Suday morning the Run becomes part of "Rolling Thunder" I was behind you in the pack. Thank you for your support of veterans and the troops. We will not stop riding until all our sons and daughters are Home! "WE RIDE FOR THOSE THAT CAN'T" As my Congressman I'm happy to give you my support and hope you will repesent me for a long time into the future. J.A.Jones, Jr. 23836-6440

Randy, I, and 110 of my fellow Richmond South Harley riders rode to DC and I, proudly rode my bike in the parade, as I have for several years now. I am 67 and consider it a privelege to have served my country during Viet Nam and several years thereafter. I also have a 42 year old daughter who is a Colonel in the Air Force and a Sr. Pilot of a C5A Galaxy. She served under Gen Tommy Franks as a Air Strike Coordinator during both Iraq and Afghanistan invasions, calling in the daily air strikes. She is proudly married to another Colonel who has come all the way from "slick sleeve" to Colonel in his Air Force career. We are each proud Americans and don't believe that our Government owes us anything. We simply want the least Government possible and the most freedom to exercise our God given talents and perform our duties to our country, proudly. Thank you. You make your voting constituents proud. Keep up the outstanding work. Your voice is truly ours. Ralph Earnhardt 2495 Judes Ferry Road Powhatan, VA 23139 804-305-8957

So, Randy Forbes honors vets on Memorial Day and obama (the CIC, by the way) blows off a trip to Arlington for a wreath laying ceremony and instead drags AF1 off to Chicago to 'rest and relax for the weekend' (his words) instead. As this site is monitored, the best I can do is praise Randy Forbes and question obama's fitness for duty. Wake up America! Thanks Randy!

Fate has me parking in the only shady spot within 20 feet of your bike- maybe it was that, or maybe all the skulls and artwork attracted your attention, but Mari and I sure enjoyed the pleasure of your company for so much time on that long, hot morning. It is great to know that one of America's finest Congressman rides....now if only you will switch to Harley...
