Authorization Requests for 110th Congress

WRDA 2008 request – Mr. McCotter joined with Mr. Conyers in requesting an increased authorization for the Ecorse Creek Flood Control Project under the Water Resources Development Act to $239 million (including federal and non-federal funding sources). The North Branch of Ecorse Creek is 17 miles long and is a primary storm water conveyance channel for the Detroit metro area. When Ecorse Creek breaches its banks the river floods many communities including Dearborn Heights and Westland.

SAFTEA-LU technical correction – Mr. McCotter requested a technical correction for the Cherry Hill Road project originally authorized under the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFTEA-LU) of 2005. This correction would more accurately reflect the road project’s goals by changing the authorizing language from “paving” to “improvements”.
