Delegation Announces More Than $320,000
Funding to Help Spark Economic Development in Rural Areas

Senators Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan and Congressman Earl Pomeroy announced today that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded $321,703 in federal funding to help spark economic development in several rural communities in North Dakota.
The grant was awarded by USDA’s Rural Development with funds appropriated by Congress.
"This investment is intended to help several rural communities in North Dakota create economic development strategies that will boost jobs, grow small businesses and build robust local economies," the delegation said in a joint statement.
The grants are from USDA's Rural Business Opportunity Grants program, which supports regional planning activities to improve economic conditions in rural areas.
North Dakota communities receiving the grants include:
· Bottineau County Economic Development Corporation – $66,250
· City of New England – $73,253
· Prairie West Development (Golden Valley County) – $74,000
· City of Rolette – $29,500
· Roosevelt-Cluster Regional Council (Dickinson) – $78,700
