Saving Priority Lands in Southeast Massachusetts as Transportation Networks Expand, The Nature Conservancy, Massachusetts Chapter, 205 Portland Street, Suite 400, Boston, MA 02114

FY2011

$2,400,000

Federal assistance will fund the acquisition of fee or easement interest from willing sellers in regionally prioritized open space parcels in Southeast Massachusetts that are threatened by unplanned growth resulting from planned highway and rail infrastructure improvements. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will disburse funds in close coordination with the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs and its agencies, which will provide non-federal matching funds from a combination of state appropriations and private funds raised by the Nature Conservancy.
