Massachusetts Maritime Academy ("MMA") is seeking federal funds for the installation of a nuclear power operator simulator to assist in the training of its nuclear engineering students. At a time when nuclear power is experiencing a resurgence of interest, this project would allow MMA to become the only state maritime academy with the ability to train its students with a nuclear power operator simulator. Additionally, the MMA proposal to install a simulator comes at a time when experts are predicting a crisis in nuclear energy as a generation of engineers is retiring.
