CIMIT is a consortium of 12 institutions (including hospitals, medical researchers and health care systems) that brings together clinicians and engineers to catalyze rapid and effective development of innovative technology and procedures to improve combat casualty and soldier care. It captures the collective talent and broad expertise of its members to take on the unresolved problems that face our nation, including landmark work on Traumatic Brain Injury, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Trauma and Casualty Care, and Infection Control/Sepsis. These areas have been identified as ‘gaps’ by the Department of Defense in an August 2008 Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs Broad Agency Announcement.
