Kucinich Says Human Cloning One Step Closer To Being Banned
Washington,
Jul 23, 2001 -
Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH-10) said he was pleased that opposition to human cloning is growing in the House of Representatives. Kucinich is an original cosponsor of H.R. 2505; the Human Cloning Prohibition Act of 2001 which was moved out of the House Judiciary Committee by a vote of 18 to 11 this afternoon.
“I oppose human cloning,” Congressman Kucinich said. “Cloning pushes ethical, scientific and medical boundaries that could lead to the destruction of human beings. What becomes of a nation that supports replication through scientific means? I’m encouraged by the strong show of support the cloning ban received in Committee. The bill remained intact and I will continue to pursue a ban on human cloning.”
