SAFETEA-LU REQUESTS (2009 Authorization Bill)

Colton

  • $4,532,400 - City of Colton - Agua Mansa Road, (Total Project Cost: $7,000,000) The project scope of work will include: realignment, roadway widening, bridge widening, striping and reconstruction of Agua Mansa Road from two to four twelve foot lanes. The project limits begin at Rancho Avenue/Agua Mansa Road and end to the west at Colton’s city limits, Riverside Avenue/Agua Mansa Road. 
  Fontana
  • $9,481,127 - City of Fontana - (Total Project Cost: $52,672,929) Citrus Avenue / Interstate 10 Interchange - The City of Fontana proposes to reconstruct the existing interchange on Citrus Avenue at Interstate 10 for the purposes of providing additional through lanes, dedicated left turn lanes, Class II bike lanes, and concrete barriers/sidewalks with chain link railing on both sides of the street.  Citrus Avenue would also be widened to Valley Boulevard to the north of I-10, and to Slover Avenue south of I-10.

Ontario

  • $4,925,000 - City of Ontario - I-10 at Grove and Grove Corridor - (Total Project: 9,750,000) Complete the alternatives analysis and environmental review, and prepare the design plans, specifications and engineering estimate for the construction of the I-10 Interchange at Grove Avenue and widening of the Grove Avenue corridor. 
  • $2,800,000 - City of Ontario - SR 60 at Grove - (Total Project: 3,500,000) The overall project is to reconstruct or expand the existing SR-60 interchange at Grove Avenue, widen the freeway on and off ramps, widen Grove Avenue from four lanes to six lanes, and provide signalized intersection improvements.

Rialto

  • $9,600,000 - City of Rialto - Metrolink Expansion (Total Project: 12,480,000) Expand the parking lot at the Rialto Metrolink Station to accommodate an additional 230 spaces.  Project involves developing plans and specifications, environmental mitigations, right-of-way acquisition and construction of the parking lot. 
  • $12,000,000 - City of Rialto - Pepper Extension (Total Project: 15,000,000) Construct the Pepper Avenue roadway extension from the current northerly terminus to the SR-210 freeway with necessary underground infrastructure improvements. 
  • $4,400,000 - City of Rialto - Riverside Bridge/UPRR (Total Project: 6,000,000) Design and conduct environmental review to widen a bridge over the Union Pacific Rail Road adjacent (south) to the Riverside Avenue Interchange at I-10 Freeway to Slover Avenue.  (The Riverside Avenue Interchange is being widened) 
  • $8,400,000 - City of Rialto - Cactus Crossing (Total Project: 10,500,000) Design and construction of the Cactus Avenue bridge crossing over the I-10 Freeway and the adjacent Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR).  Project will require planning, design, engineering, environmental, acquisition of right-of-way and construction activities.

 (City) San Bernardino

  • $ 16,000,000 - City of San Bernardino - San Bernardino Transit Center (with Metrolink) -  (Total Project: 25,000,000)  The funding request is for the planning, design and construction phase of the project.  Upon completion of the pre-development, conceptual design and final design of the Intermodal Transit station, the construction phase will begin.  The construction phase is scheduled to begin in 2012.  Opening day of the station is scheduled for December 2012. 

 (County) San Bernardino

  • $29,000,000 -  San Bernardino County - I-10/Cherry Ave (Total Project: $71,000,000) The I-10 Cherry Avenue Interchange is one of several seriously deficient interchanges along the segment of I-10 between I15 and I-215, a federally Designated Trade Corridor of National Significance.  The I-10 Cherry Avenue interchange project will make operational and safety improvements.  This project reconstructs the Cherry Avenue overpass and adjacent railroad overhead to add additional lanes, widen and realign the ramps, and realign local streets as required by the improved interchange Configuration.
  CSUSB
  • $5,000,000 - California State University San Bernardino - (Total Project: 10,000,000) Transportation Center; The purpose of the grant is to continue to expand a multidisciplinary and collaborative policy analysis and study program of transportation research, education, training, workforce development, and technology transfer through a University Transportation Center located at California State University San Bernardino.  The Leonard Transportation center is dedicated to the policy analysis and study of “Decision Making and Management of Transportation Systems.”

 GOLD LINE Los Angles County - (City of Ontario - Submitted letter of support)

  • $10,000,000  Metro Gold Line Light Rail Transit Project; For Metro Gold Line Light Rail Transit Project Phase 2 engineering to support the environmental review for advanced conceptual engineering to the twenty-four mile Foothill Extension Phase II project, which was authorized for final design and construction under New Starts in SAFETEA-LU, is the last phase in the 43-mile Metro Gold Line light rail transit line.  Phase II will continue through 11 cities along the foothills of the San Gabriel Valley, including Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale, Azusa, Glendora, San Dimas, La Verne, Pomona, Claremont and Montclair and to be extended to the Ontario International Airport. 
  Omnitrans
  • $16,000,000 San Bernardino Transit Center; The sbX, a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, will operate in the cities of San Bernardino and Loma Linda.  BRT is a new high-tech, user-friendly system that will offer more frequent service, fewer stops, and higher average speeds than traditional bus service to reduce traffic congestion, reduce air pollution, reduce the travel time between the locations, and trigger Traffic oriented Development to stimulate the economic growth.  The sbX “E” Street Corridor originates in the north end-of-line station in the city of San Bernardino at Palm Ave. and Kendall Dr.  The total cost based on conceptual cost estimate is approximately $192M.   
  • $1,280,000 San Bernardino Valley Express Corridor  - Omnitrans has developed a System-Wide Transit Corridor Plan to identify major transit corridors within the development of major fixed route transit investments. Currently, Omnitrans operates an excellent network of local bus services that provide good coverage in its general service area. However, the local routes do not have operating speeds capable of competing well with the automobile in capturing choice riders who are making medium to long distance trips.
SANBAG 
  • $32,000,000 I-15 /Mainline; The I-15 Mainline Expansion Project between SR-60 and I-10 includes the construction of additional lane in each direction and ancillary improvements.  The funds are requested for the construction of these improvements to improve interregional connectivity between San Bernardino and Riverside County and to accommodate capacity needs based on regional growth and increased freight traffic.  
  • $20,000,000 I-10  Cedar; The I-10/Cedar Avenue Interchange project will plan, design, and reconstruct an existing overpass and on/off ramp to/from I-10 at Cedar Avenue in the City of Fontana.  
  • $50,000,000 San Bernardino Rapid Bus Project (sbX); Request funding for the planning, design, right-of-way acquisition and construction of the sbX “E” Street Corridor located primarily in the City of San Bernardino.  This Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor will operate along “E” Street between Palm and Kendall in the City of San Bernardino and terminate at the VA Hospital in City of Loma Linda, just south of San Bernardino.
