Resolution Recognizes the Service of Veterans from All American Conflicts, Calls for Greater Recognition of Veterans Day Holiday 

Washington, DC – Last night, the House of Representatives approved legislation introduced by Congressman Joe Baca (D-Rialto) that honors the historic contributions of American veterans who have served in all conflicts, and calls for greater recognition of the Veterans Day Holiday each year.  H. Res. 1622, the Veterans of all U.S. Conflicts Resolution, passed the House by a unanimous vote.

“Veterans Day is not just another day off of school or work,” said Rep. Baca.  “It is a day of reflection to honor and remember those who have defended our country.  I pushed this resolution through the House because I believe we should never forget America’s true heroes, and the courage and patriotism they have displayed serving in conflicts throughout our history as a nation.  I thank my colleagues in the House for supporting this legislation, and urge all Americans to remember the sacrifices made by so many brave men and women in uniform.”

In addition to recognizing the courage, service, sacrifice, and contributions of all American veterans, H. Res. 1622 also encourages teachers in the classroom to educate our children on the many historic contributions that veterans have made to our society – both during and after their service in the military. 

“As an Army veteran myself, I am all too aware of the hardships our military men and women and their families endure to protect our country,” added Rep. Baca.  “Our veterans deserve to be honored by all Americans.  I am proud to author this resolution recognizing the service of all American veterans and calling for greater recognition of Veterans Day.  I vow to continue to work in Congress to make sure all of America’s veterans receive the proper health care, benefits, and respect they rightfully deserve.”

Rep. Baca is a veteran who served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with both the 101st and the 82nd Airborne Divisions from 1966-68.
