Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today met with Ms. Sally Marie Pellegrin of Cleveland, Ohio as she visited Washington to receive the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). PAEMST is administered by the National Science Foundation to recognize outstanding teachers for their contributions to the teaching and learning of mathematics and science.
“Ms. Pellegrin’s dedication and creative approach to teaching inspires young people to excel,” said Kucinich.
Ms. Pellegrin teaches at the Clara E. Westropp Elementary School in Cleveland. She was one of 87 teachers who were honored nationwide and the only teacher from Ohio that was recognized. Ms. Pellegrin was noted for participating in two iDiscovery courses and a Physical Science by Inquiry Course as well as being an instructor for a Discovery-supported workshop for Cleveland-area teachers.
Discovery is a federally- and state-funded effort to support and enhance the learning and teaching of science and mathematics.
