BELLEVILLE – U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) today participated in a ribbon cutting for the 932nd Airlift Wing’s combined operations facility at Scott Air Force Base. Costello, who worked to secure federal funds for the project, also participated in the ground breaking of the new facility in October of 2008.
The new two-story facility, at a size of over 52,000 square feet, will hold approximately 190 occupants. The space includes conference rooms, training rooms, warehouse, locker rooms, break rooms, storage and additional spaces. The project also included associated site work, communications services and supporting utilities.
“Two years ago we broke ground on this project, and today we are celebrating the opening of this beautiful new facility for the hard working men and women at Scott,” said Costello. “The base continues to grow, and the Operations Building is one more important development. I am committed to doing everything I can to assist the base because its future is a vital component both in our nation’s defense and in our regional economy.”
