COSTELLO ANNOUNCES PULASKI, PERRY COUNTY ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVE USDA FUNDS
WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the following organizations have been awarded Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program funds from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Rural Development. The funds will allow both organizations to capitalize a Rural Microloan Revolving Fund to make microloans to local small businesses and entrepreneurs.
- Southern Five Development Corporation, located in Ullin – $500,000 loan and $150,000 grant. The Corporation’s rural market includes five counties – Alexander, Johnson, Massac, Pulaski and Union.
- Southern Illinois Coal Belt Champion Community, Inc., located in Du Quoin – $500,000 loan and $150,000 grant. The organization’s service area includes 11 counties designated as Delta Regional Authority communities.
“USDA funds allow us to help meet pressing community needs,” said Costello. “These projects will enhance economic and workforce development, and they are especially critical as the economy recovers.”
