WASHINGTON – Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that several school districts in the Metro East have received Title I formula funds through the U.S. Department of Education. These funds provide financial assistance to school districts for services that improve the teaching and learning of children at risk of not meeting challenging academic standards, especially those children who reside in areas with high concentrations of children from low-income families.
“This funding supports students in need to make sure they are receiving a quality education,” said Costello. “A strong economy depends upon our ability to educate our children and maintain a productive workforce that is equipped to meet the challenges of the 21st Century.”
