WASHINGTON – U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale has been awarded a $218,250 grant from the National Institutes of Health of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The funds will be used for a research project, directed by Buffy Sue Ellsworth, titled “The Forkhead Transcription Factor, FOXO1, and its Role in Pituitary Gland Development and Function.”
“Investing in scientific research is an important component of the federal budget,” said Costello. “This is another example of SIUC’s standing as a leading research facility, and I will continue to support these efforts.”
