Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois University Carbondale has received a $464,075 grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) as part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. The award is in support of the project “MRI-RD: Acquisition of an Analytical High Resolution Scanning Electron Microscope,” under the direction of John Bozzola.
“Federal support is an important element in basic research,” said Costello, a senior member of the House Science Committee. “Projects such as these help fulfill the academic mission of the university and sustain our economy, and I will continue to work to ensure that we adequately fund federal research and development programs.”
