Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that several organizations in the Metro East have received Homeless Assistance grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The funds will be used for housing and support services for the homeless provided through three programs: The Supportive Housing Program (SHPR), the Shelter Plus Care Program (S+CR) and the Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation Single Room Occupancy Program (SRO).
“HUD programs promote self-sufficiency among the less fortunate in our communities, which is especially important during a down economy,” said Costello. “I will continue to support these efforts.”
