Washington - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Village of Marissa has received a $1,380,000 loan and $815,000 grant, both for water system improvements, through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. These funds have been awarded by the Water and Environmental Program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of Rural Development. They will be used for improvements to water and wastewater infrastructure to deliver safe drinking water and protect the local environment.
“USDA funds help communities meet their pressing water infrastructure needs,” said Costello, a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “A reliable water system greatly improves quality of life, and I will continue to support efforts to provide our cities and towns the resources to serve the needs of their residents and businesses.”
