WASHINGTON - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that Southern Illinois Airport, located in Carbondale, has received $2,350,000 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) through the Illinois State Block Grant Program. The funds will be used to construct a storage building to house an aircraft rescue and fire fighting vehicle and snow removal equipment.
“Modern facilities are necessary to meet regulatory requirements and provide a safe environment for employees and the traveling public,” said Costello, Chairman of the House Aviation Subcommittee. “I will continue to support investment in the regional airports, such as Southern Illinois Airport, that serve our region.”
