WASHINGTON - U.S. Congressman Jerry Costello (D-IL) announced today that the Granite City Fire Department has received an Operations and Safety grant in the amount of $80,503 through the Assistance to Firefighters program of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The funds are allocated for training, equipment, personal protective equipment, wellness and fitness, and health and safety modifications to stations and facilities. Costello cosponsored the legislation that created the Assistance to Firefighters program.
“This award will enhance fire protection services and keep our communities safe,” said Costello. “The Assistance to Firefighters program has provided significant support for departments across our nation and within our region, and I will continue to support this important resource.”
