Congressman Kildee to Hold Telephone Town Hall on Health Care

Discussion to be held on September 9 at 8:00 pm

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI) announced today that he will hold a telephone town hall on health care on September 9, at 8:00 p.m. The upcoming telephone town hall will allow residents of Michigan’s 5th Congressional district to ask the Congressman questions about H.R. 3200, America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009, and to express their views regarding health care reform.

“Congress is currently working towards historic health care reform, and while we may respectfully disagree on some of the provisions in this bill, most of us can agree that the problems in our health care system can no longer be ignored. That is why I urge you to join me for a civil discussion and debate on the facts of this bill during my upcoming telephone town hall on September 9 at 8:00 p.m. This format will allow tens of thousands of people from across Michigan’s 5th Congressional district to participate in the discussion simply by picking up their phone,” said Congressman Kildee. “We still have a long way to go before this health care reform bill comes to the floor of the House of Representatives for a vote and we are still working out the details. I am committed to working on this bill to ensure it is done right and I ask you to join me in this important work for our country.”

Residents of Michigan’s 5th Congressional District who would like to participate in the telephone town hall should visit Congressman Kildee’s website at www.house.gov/kildee or call his office at 1-800-662-2685 to submit their phone number to receive an invitation to join the town hall.

Tens of thousands of people will be able to participate, but in order to accommodate this many callers, the system relies mostly on outgoing invitations. Everyone who wants an invitation to the town hall will get one. A full recording will be available on the Congressman’s website after the town hall.
